On average, one woman is killed every week by a current or former partner. (1)

This could be your sister. Your daughter. Or your friend.

And the Penrith region is not immune. Between October 2016 to September 2017 there were 1,094 incidents of domestic violence reported.(2) This does not take into account the incidents that go unreported, which can be as many as 70% of incidents.

They need a safe haven. But we need your help to provide that haven.

The Haven - Nepean Women’s Shelter is a volunteer-led organisation that relies on non-government assistance. It provides up to 3 months crisis accommodation and transitional support for up to 6 women and their children experiencing domestic violence and homelessness.

breaking the cycle of domestic violence

Women experiencing DV have endured physical, verbal and emotional abuse, they have lived in fear, been kept in isolation, battled low self-esteem and a lack of family, community and financial support.

Women and children experiencing DV need you. With your belief in them, you give them the courage they need to leave and break the cycle of domestic violence.

People often wonder why woman don’t leave sooner.  The fact of the matter is it’s a violent cycle of ongoing abuse with six phases:

Your assistance is instrumental in rebuilding these women’s confidence so they can regain control of their lives.

  • It takes $500,000 a year to run The Haven.
  • 50% of this we receive from Women’s Community Shelters.
  • The remainder? We rely on volunteering, fundraising and community help from people like you.

We’re asking for your help. This is our community, and these are our women and children.

$100 will keep a woman and her child safe for 48hrs.

Partner

If you are a local organisation, then consider a strategic partnership with the Haven. This can deliver results for your company including brand building, extra PR, a morale booster for employees who want to make a difference, the opportunity to meet social responsibility objectives, as well as the acquisition of new customers or an increase in sales. We recognise that every organisation has its own strategic objectives, audiences and visions for the future. Our partnerships start with exploring common ground and developing initiatives that work for everyone; your company, the Haven, your customers, and our supporters.
